Field Study is a reference index to articles, maps,
books, SPE papers, AAPG articles, etc. The text of the actual articles is
not included but the database can direct you to an article or study of a
particular oil or gas Field. More than 14,000 references are included
in the database. The database is oriented toward Fields, and does not
index general articles, for example on reservoir stimulation or pumping
unit design. It will be useful to someone who must get quickly informed
on a particular oil or gas Field, formation or county. For some Fields,
supplemental reservoir information is included. A

The publications indexed in the database number in the hundreds but include:
Say you want to find all the studies or articles on the Frontier formation in Wyoming. You could use the excellent SPE CD's and find those articles, but you will only have those published by SPE. The Wyoming Geological Society has published perhaps the best field study books, but you would miss these by limiting a search to SPE papers. And the Oil and Gas Journal has printed some very good articles that could be searched with their on-line system but again you might miss a paper in one of the AAPG's Atlas of Oil and Gas Fields series.
